Guest Blogger: Petra Lewis Biography
Petra E. Lewis was born in Trinidad and emigrated to the US just shy of four years old. After attending public schools in the East Flatbush section of Brooklyn, for high school she won a scholarship through ABC (A Better Chance) to attend a boarding school. The latter opportunity changed the trajectory of her life. She holds two degrees from Columbia University, including an MFA in fiction writing. She worked on Wall Street as a corporate writer and communications executive for nearly two decades. Reading Toni Morrison’s The Bluest Eye around age seven or nine sowed her life-long dream of becoming a published fiction writer: The Sons and Daughters of Ham trilogy is her literary debut. The first book, The Sons and Daughters of Ham: Book I, A Requiem debuts in January 2014.
